Wow it's been a little while since I last wrote (November?) A few things have happened considering December's a busy month cos of Christmas alone! It was extra busy this year cos the band had 2 gigs so a lot of time went into rehearsing.
I bought a new bass so the first December gig on the 17th was it's debut! I think it's an absolutely sexy bass and the sound quality is awesome. I pondered over it for a few weeks and "test-drove" a few (buying a bass is like buying a car... has to jive well with you!) before finally settling on it. Apparently it was the first time they ever had one of it's kind in the store. When they brought it out for me to check it caught all the staff's attention... including the manager himself! I think I spent the entire week polishing it lol!
The 2 gigs went quite well and were fun as usual! I was a little taken aback by how the people were behaving at the New Year's Eve gig though... full-grown adults older than me acting like teens, dancing on tables and just plain going crazy! It was definitely a sight to see but nonetheless lots of fun! I was starting to come down with something cos my throat was getting sore after singing the first song, so I'm glad I only sing a few songs... I'll stick to playing the bass thank you!
The children's choir I play accompaniment for also had their fundraiser banquet to raise money for their China tour in August of this year. Aside from the conductor, I've never really been appreciated at the choir before but I've always let it slide since I love music so much and the kids are so darn cute! But a line was crossed at this banquet so I'm saying "so long" and going my way. Which sort of leads to my New Year's resolution I guess! I was asked on New Year's what my resolution was and I didn't have one then but I have one now... to do what I want to do and whatever makes me happy. I'm no longer going to do favors for people to humor them, making myself believe that what they wanted is what I also want. I also have to thank my friend for truthfully telling me that no one asks for favors... they just write my name down and just tell me later. From now on I'm going to start using the word "no". Sorry to those that this comes as a shock to!
