R.I.P Michael Jackson

I watched the MJ memorial live online today and it was absolutely touching. Listening to the music, it made me think of my dad and the CD he had made of his favourite music, a lot being from the Jackson 5. MJ was such a huge influence regardless of the events that occurred in the later part of his life and it definitely showed. I never imagined that something so big would happen during my generation. They did a tribute to MJ at HH4H 6 this year would was all too coincidental that it was almost creepy. I mean, they planned the whole tributes thing about a year ago and the idea for the MJ tribute was under way at least 3 months ago. Who would have thought that it would be this type of tribute. Nonetheless, it was so well done. I shed tears every time I watched the performance, both in rehearsal and during the actual show. Both nights Harman stole the show and even received the much deserved standing-O at the Sunday night show. I wish I had time to audition for the number and to be part of something so epic. This is the second time I could have been part of an MJ dance set... first time was my second year dancing at DA, but it didn't happen. Honestly, I never really listened to MJ when I was younger. I listened to more of his earlier music, when he was part of the Jackson 5. And I didn't get into dancing until a few years ago so it's not like I idolized him from the start like other dancers. Don't get me wrong, I did look up to his dancing and he was the first one that popped into my mind when I thought about dancing, but I wasn't a die-hard fan like a lot of dancers are. Still, the first move I wanted to learn when I started was the moonwalk.

It's been raining all day today, mostly pouring, but oddly it's all bright and blue skied now. It actually stopped not too long after the memorial. All too fitting, as if the sky was crying with the rest of the world now that the King of Pop has passed. Rest in Peace MJ.
